Oscar voters are 94% white and 77% male.

File under: “stuff we totally already knew but it’s so depressing to have confirmation,” “no wonder War Horse got a best picture nod.”

And why The Help did instead of Pariah, for that matter.

sigh

and The Decedents instead of, say, Albert Nobbs. Seriously, was the Decedents even that good of a movie. I saw the trailer for it and it looked like every movie I ever seen, ever. If George Clooney wasn’t in it would anyone even give a fuck

^ I have no idea why, I watched the whole thing anticipating a moment when it’d get all ‘award-worthy’ and genius, but then it ended and…yeah. I hate it when movies like that get nominated for every possible thing, and stuff like “We Need To Talk About Kevin” gets nothing.

ooo I downloaded that movie I’m going to watch it tonight. so pumped.

tbh I think the most deserving one to be nominated is “The Artist.” Like, waaaaay more so than the others. I liked “Midnight In Paris” ok, and I’m sure “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” is lovely (since it’s by a director that I like, but I refuse to see the movie until I’ve read the book), but “The Artist” was just genius. If it doesn’t win best picture I’m going to pitch a fit.

I haven’t watched “The Artist” yet, I’m holding off on it till my cold passes so that I can actually concentrate on a silent screen for more than 5 minutes. I liked MIP as well, and I’m looking forward to ELIC, since I’ve read the book and really liked it. But yeah, I wish WNTTAK could have been nominated.
